The Woodstock Festival was a legendary rock festival that took place in August 1969. With 32 performances, Woodstock attracted a fabulous 400.000 spectators and became the icon of a generation tired of wars and that preached peace and love as a way of life and showed its rejection of the system.
Today in Israel, six peace activists decided to honor that spirit and hold Woodstock for Peace, a concert that seeks to promote dialogue and peace in the midst of the war in Gaza.
From December 26-28, more than 3.500 people will gather in Shitim, a community in the desert south of Israel, and will feature artists such as Achinoam Nini, Arab rapper Samekh 'Saz' Zakout, violinist Yair Dalal, Dana Berger and Yael Deckelbaum, among others.
There will also be other activities such as discussion circles on peace, ecology, spirituality and yoga classes.
In addition, a trilingual platform in Hebrew, Arabic and English was developed, designed to attract a diverse audience of Jews and Arabs, and the participation of at least three local Bedouin communities is expected.
