The president thanked the security forces for their work and assured that they will continue to exert pressure on the aggressor with the aim of completely expelling Putin's Army from Ukrainian soil.
Zelensky spoke for the first time about the advance in Kursk and celebrated the movement of the war to enemy territory
Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, spoke this Saturday for the first time about the military operation recently launched on Kursk and celebrated the movement of the war to enemy territory.
In his usual daily message, the president said that “the commander in chief (of the Armed Forces) Oleksander Sirskii sent me today several reports from the front, about our actions and about the displacement of war to aggressor territory”, which realize that “Ukraine is showing that it can really do justice.”
He also promised that They will continue to exert “the exact kind of pressure that is needed: pressure on the aggressor”, with the aim of completely expelling the Russians from their territory.
Finally, Zelensky thanked “each of our Defense Forces that guarantee” that objective, just as he did days ago, when he praised his army's ability to “surprise” and achieve results.
Five days ago, Ukrainian troops entered Kursk, which was the first incursion into enemy territory. The maneuver included a large deployment of nearly 300 effective, 11 battle tanks y 200 armored vehicles, considering -in fact- the largest in the area since the start of the war in February 2022.
Quickly, the soldiers began to gain ground against the Kremlin officers, managing to advance a few 20 kilometers to the north and west of the border town of Sudzha, as well as in the vicinity of Snagost, Korenevo and Malaya Lokhnya. Meanwhile, active fighting is still taking place in Plekhovo and Dmitriukov.
The soldiers reportedly captured enemy officers who could be used in a future exchange.
“The level of strategic, operational and tactical deception shown by the Ukrainians during the planning, assembly of forces and the ongoing execution of the operation in Kursk has been magnificent,” retired Australian Major General Mick Ryan wrote on his social networks. “This is not a technical achievement, it is human. People who They have learned from their successes and failures “Since February 2022, they have designed an operation that is being competently executed by motivated soldiers,” he added.
The Kremlin, for its part, ordered the evacuation of about 76.000 inhabitants towards “safe places” in the face of this “direct threat” and launched a series of “anti-terrorist operations in the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions”, with the aim of “ensuring the security of citizens and suppressing the threat of terrorist actions carried out by enemy sabotage groups.”
With this measure, security forces now have the power to restrict movement, confiscate vehicles, monitor telephone calls, introduce checkpoints and reinforce security at key infrastructure.
At the same time, Vladimir Putin ordered the sending of reinforcements of reservists and fighter aircraft to the border to confront Ukrainian aggression. “The enemy was attacked with artillery fire, military aviation and attack drones,” the Moscow Defense Ministry said.
