Traitors to Europe by the grace of Trump

After Trump's embarrassing ambush of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House, in which the American president confirmed his betrayal of Ukraine and, therefore, of Europe, the "patriots" of Santiago Abascal and Viktor Orbán have become the fifth column of Trumpism and Putinism on the European continent. They dream of ending the European project and destroying the European Union (EU) because it represents everything they hate most.

With the near-breakup between Ukraine and the United States after the monumental row between the American president, Donald Trump, and the Ukrainian, Volodymyr Zelensky, it is becoming increasingly clear who the American administration has taken sides with in this war: the invader, that is, Russia. We already knew it, we sensed it, but the White House's ambush of Zelensky in the Oval Office crossed all the red lines of shamelessness, I would dare say, in the presidential history of the United States. What has been experienced in the White House is the most shameful episode of the last two centuries of American history. Humiliating Zelensky in public is trying to humiliate heroism in the face of infamy.

I imagine that, in these times of ignominy and moral indecency, the American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, will not be ashamed of having to support the tyrant supported by his boss, Vladimir Putin. Rubio, the scourge of Latin American dictatorships and ardent defender of human rights and freedoms, will now have to swallow all the lies in order to whitewash the autocrat who attacked, invaded and bombed Ukraine during these three years, during which thousands of innocent civilians have died and millions more have had to leave their homes for fear of dying under Russian bombs. Rubio has lost all his moral authority and ethical credibility after folding into Trump's sinister political game.

Then there are our local traitors, like the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, who, like a palace jester, has had no other reaction with respect to this betrayal of Europe, and of Western interests as well, than to come out with a lance in hand against Europe, the European Union (EU), Zelensky and his European allies to defend the indefensible and to give reason to Trump, who bets on the invader instead of defending the attacked, who supports the victimizer who bleeds Ukraine dry instead of the victim.

SUPPORT FOR TRUMP AND PUTIN, A BOOMERANG AGAINST VOX?

Abascal, who is a shameless opportunist and a felon without a mask, should know that under Spanish law his conduct, supporting the enemies of Europe, would be openly classified as a crime of treason against the homeland, which he claims to love and serve so much. The crime of treason against the homeland, for Spanish law, is a category that includes the crimes of instigating war, favoring the enemy, espionage and declaring war or signing peace against the provisions of the Spanish Constitution of 1978. Is it not favoring the enemy to now support Russia in its aggression against Ukraine? This guy says that he is a true patriot, precisely he who did not do military service and wanted to impose it on millions of young Spaniards, but his salon patriotism is now leaking and one day sooner rather than later all these contradictions of the king of the chiringuitos who never worked in anything other than public affairs will end up exploding and dragging his party into the mire of irrelevance.

It remains to be seen what two of his star MEPs, Hermann Tertsch and Juan Carlos Girauta, will do. They have publicly expressed their disagreement with some of the decisions taken by Trump. Let us not forget that the tenant of the White House has eradicated Spanish from the websites of the American presidency and other official channels; he has insulted Puerto Ricans who are trying to be forced to speak English; in the middle of the electoral campaign he referred to Latinos in the United States in this way: “Don’t speak that shitty Spanish in my country”; and, finally, if his threats are carried out, he has assured that he will impose tariffs on all European products, including, of course, Spanish ones. Does the “patriot” Abascal support these measures against the interests of Spain? Will our “patriotic” MEPs remain silent or, following the path left by others who have already left Vox, tired of the blunders of their top leader, will they abandon ship or will the juicy salaries of MEPs weigh more?

Abascal, who has formed, together with other like-minded Putinist groups and parties, including the political party led by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a pan-European party called Patriots, which is arguing over its political space with the classic right and with the alliance of right-wing parties formed by the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, who is more moderate than the “patriots” of Vox and critical of the submission of these ultra-right groups to Moscow.

Despite everything, it has been surprising how almost all European countries, but especially Germany and the United Kingdom leading Europe, have defended the Ukrainian cause and have remained very far from the positions of President Trump, whose solution to the conflict involves Ukraine handing over territories to Russia, handing over raw materials from this country to the United States, not allowing the Ukrainians to join NATO and permanently annexing the Crimean peninsula without including it in the negotiations. Obviously, for Ukraine this starting point is unacceptable because then there would be almost no room for negotiation and everything would be considered closed at a future negotiating table where nothing would really be negotiated. Now Moscow, with Trump in the White House, feels stronger than ever and continues to attack Ukraine mercilessly to conquer new territories in view of hypothetical negotiations.

In short, we have traitors within, our problem is internal, as the American vice president JD Vance rightly said, whose attacks on Europe were well cheered by our “patriots” after his recent incendiary and lapidary speech at the Munich Security Conference. It was humiliating to see how well-rounded European leaders put up with Vance’s downpour without getting indignant or rising up at least as a form of protest. In the same way that, had he been present, Abascal would have done, who by the way was congratulated by Trump at the last parafascist summit at the CPAC in Washington, including a Nazi salute from Steve Bannon, for “his great work” as a confessed fifth columnist. Congratulations, Abascal, welcome to the club of traitors.

  1. It is necessary to remember that the countries that are part of the European Union also form a military and security organization, similar to NATO, or in any case, it is assumed that all of NATO, except perhaps now with the sole exception of Trump's United States, in this war are totally in favor of Ukraine or against Russia. For this reason, Orban's Hungary was seriously warned for his dalliances with Putin, Orban would be close to committing treason and could cause Hungary's expulsion from the European Union, and in Spain Abascal is doing the same, although for now this character does not govern in the state of Spain, although he has increased his percentage of votes a little after a period of stagnation, at the expense of the right-wing Popular Party, currently in decline due to corruption and mainly due to its disastrous handling of the floods that occurred in November in Valencia, where he governs.

At least in Spain, the Spanish communists support Putin in a similar way to the far-right Vox. It seems that, apart from a possible exchange of favors from the powerful Russia, due to their fondness for supporting everything that is against the established power, when currently the international military and economic dominance is in the hands of the United States and Europe. In the far-right it is more complicated to know what they intend or if Russia is paying them, although it is probably also in that direction on a purely intellectual level, perhaps the current world powers, the United States and Western Europe, prevent these far-right figures from returning to their former longed-for empires, or it may also be because of the Judeo-Masonic conspiracies.

  2. Others have suggested that both Trump and other European political leaders may be being blackmailed by Russia through evidence or recordings of sexual scandals, something that should not be so complicated if, for example, one takes into account the statistics on sexual abuse, or also paedophilia, published in recent years in the United States and several other European countries, such as in Spain, a few months ago the Ombudsman, an official position of the Spanish government, published a report estimating that 440.000 Spaniards who, being minors, have been victims of sexual abuse by Spanish Catholic religious, or 4 million victims of abusers among the rest of the general Spanish population, and this in a country with currently 48 million inhabitants, abusers of whom nothing is known, or for example of paedophiles in the Spanish Catholic Church, only 2.800 cases have been known, which was only possible thanks to an initiative of the left-wing newspaper El País.

  3. Another possible reason for this support from Western right-wing leaders could be the ties between neo-Nazi groups, as there is no shortage of them in Russia, although there is also no shortage of neo-Nazis in the currently whitewashed image of Ukraine, not to mention Ukraine's criminal anti-Semitic past during the invasion of Nazi Germany. In any case, England in particular has always been in a continuous conflict with Putin's Russia, with Russian oppositionists being murdered by Russian agents on English soil or incidents involving military vessels. Who knows what is brewing on high: in the Russia-Ukraine war, not only is the annexation of separatist regions at stake, with each side telling its own version of the story. Since the war began, geostrategic interests and huge economic interests in gas and agricultural exports from Ukraine have become evident. For example, as soon as the war began in Spain, sunflower oil skyrocketed, an oil that the Spanish consumed as a cheap alternative to the excessively expensive olive oil, but for a long time both oils were at almost equivalent prices.
