First silver medal for Claire Weinstein, a young American Jewish swimmer

At the age of 17, Claire Weinstein, 17, swam the first leg for the American team, won her first Olympic medal last Thursday, in the 4x200 meter freestyle relay event. 

Weinstein helped his team take second place with a time of 7:40.86, more than two seconds behind Australia's first place finish in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

She swam alongside Katie Ledecky, a historic name in American swimming, who with this achieved her 13th medal, Erin Gemmell and Paige Madden.

After winning the medal, Weinstein expressed that it was “really special to be on a relay for the United States, and it makes it even more special that we get to be part of Katie's journey.”

Born in New York, Weinstein celebrated her bat mitzvah at Kol Ami Reform Congregation in White Plains. The Jewish swimmer She secured her spot in Paris by placing second in the US Olympic team trials in the 200-meter freestyle, behind Ledecky.
