El Kibbutz Be'eri It was one of the hardest hit communities during the October 7 attack by Hamas. About 125 homes were damaged during the attack.
The National Planning and Construction Council has unanimously approved the creation of a new residential neighborhood for the kibbutz, with the aim of restoring the border communities with the Gaza Strip.
To this day, members of the Be'eri community live in a hotel near the Dead Sea, but will soon be moved to a neighborhood in Hatzerin.
The project approved by the council stipulates the construction of a neighborhood called HaPardes, which will be located in the southeastern part of the kibbutz.
The neighborhood will have 140 new units. But in addition, 12 units are planned to be rebuilt in Ashlim, the neighborhood located in the center of the kibbutz, where most of the homes were destroyed.
According to Tomer Golan, from the economic center of Kibbutz Be'eri, it is hoped that the community will be able to return to their homes by the summer of 2026.
Golan explained that they have already demolished “the damaged houses in the 'Ashlim' neighborhood in preparation for their reconstruction, and in the coming weeks we will begin to establish the necessary infrastructure.”
