November 25th 2024

Singer-songwriter Dikla is releasing her seventh album “Alifut” these days, along with a documentary directed by Shlomi Elkabetz. By Chiquita Levov.

Singer and creator Dikla, one of the most important and pioneering artists of Israeli music, released her new album “Alifut” along with a documentary directed by acclaimed creator, actor, screenwriter and film director Shlomi Elkabetz. The song that represents the album release is accompanied by a clip taken from the film. Dikla wrote and composed the song together with Mittal Michael, Itai Tzuk and Roni Brown who also arranged and produced it with Patrick Sabag. The seventh album, which includes six songs, was recorded in Italy and comes five years after the sixth album. The musical production of the songs on the album varies between a variety of musical worlds that shaped her: pop, rock and Mediterranean. Dikla is embarking on a new concert tour for the release, and will include her greatest hits along with new songs. It will take place in several locations: Be'er Sheva, Jerusalem, Megiddo, Yahud, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Modi'in, and other sites. Between 5.12 and 13 February 2025.

Dikla, who stands out for being highly original and authentic, has an extensive career with successful albums and a number of highly appreciated pieces that broke into the radio charts and top playlists and garnered millions of views on new media, becoming an integral part of the Israeli soundtrack. Over the years, Dikla wrote for many artists, performed across the country and won many titles, including “singer of the year” and “creator of the year.” This new album, “Alifut” is a very special one in the singer-songwriter’s career as in it Dikla reveals and tells about her life. About the neighborhood where she grew up in Be’er Sheva. About the childhood, the stories, the relationships, the speech and the music that made her who she is today.

When Shlomi Elkabetz, her close friend and father of her eldest daughter, heard the album for the first time, he invited Dikla to film a documentary, which they would work on together with Yuval Aharoni and film students from Sapir Academic College. It is a film that follows Dikla and her best friends on a trip together to their favourite singer's concert in Paris. Due to the time of year, on the first day of filming the flight was postponed, plans changed and the film changed direction and became a 20-minute documentary. In it, Dikla and her friends were filmed for an entire night engaged in personal, open and intimate conversations. When Dikla saw the final result, it was clear to her that the film and the album are part of the same work and that they should come out side by side, because together they tell a complete story. So far, Dikla has released two singles from the new album, which have already been very successful on radio and social media, with more than half a million plays across the various media.
