From September 10 to 28, the Israel Festival will take place, an annual event that seeks to be a national cultural celebration.

This year, the event also seeks to be a way to remember and heal what was experienced during the October 7 attack by Hamas and since then, so there will be activities not only in Jerusalem but also in the Western Negev, one of the most affected in the attack.

Thus, residents, including artists and producers, collaborated with Itay Mautner and Michal Vaknin, the artistic directors of the festival, to create a program that reflects what happened.

Eyal Sher, director of the Israel Festival, expressed that they produce the festival “with a deep belief in the unique role of art to contribute to the processes of healing and recovery, and to imagine a space of dreams and hope for a shared future.”

The September 10 opening will be in sderot and will include exhibitions, sound installations and the work 7 Boom, created by Liat Dror, which explores the reality of the city marked by the roar of rockets.

In addition, the festival will feature events such as “People of the Music”, which will bring together artists such as Alma Gov, Marina Maximilian, Berry Sakharof and others, who will perform original material created by young local musicians, reflecting resistance in the context of adversity.
