As part of the celebration of the anniversary of the Independence of the State of Israel, which turns 75 this year, the foundation Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael (KKL-JNF) presents a series of unpublished photographs with great historical and cultural value.
Many of the images are located in what is now known as Agamon Hula, KKL's natural park in the Hula Valley. Around 1950, Hula Lake and its surroundings were an important sector in the construction of the country. There, swamp drying work was carried out, among other things.
In addition, the foundation also shared images of the same territories today, so that the public can compare them with historical photographs.
In relation to this project, the director of the KKL-JNF archive, Efrat Sinai, expressed the importance of this publication. “In honor of the holiday, the KKL-JNF archive enthusiastically reveals a series of previously unpublished photos from the early days of independence, from the work of drying the swamps, an integral part of nation-building,” the official said.
Furthermore, Sinai added that “the photographs remind us of the joy of independence and the sense of unity that accompanied the establishment of the state.”
And where can we see the photos?
