In these difficult days when a return to normality and full rehabilitation is expected, the festival highlights the work of local flamenco artists, who move between their geographical home in Israel and their artistic-cultural theme: flamenco. The program features connections between flamenco and various musical styles, collaborations with Spanish musicians and free open-air performances, allowing the public to experience singing and dancing up close. It is important to note that this year's program, made up of local creators, is very attractive, because of the great Israeli artists who have achieved their development in this genre precisely thanks to the tireless work of the foundation. Keren Adi. And its founder Eva Agmon (ZAL) founded in 1994 in memory of her daughter Adi, a talented flamenco dancer who passed away at the age of 21. From 27 to 29.3 at Suzanne Dellal. Let's Dance

A special show that will be presented this year is “Living Heritage” - Dancing in the Silvia Duran Archives”, created as part of the “Original Works” project initiated by the Adi Agmon Foundation to promote Israeli creation in the flamenco style. Unlike previous years, when a call for artists was launched, this year it was decided that it would be an original production of the foundation, and to focus on the work inspired by the archive materials of Silvia Durán, a dancer, choreographer and teacher who has won awards, including the Order of Honor of King Juan Carlos of Spain, for her contribution to Spain and the Spanish people.

The creators Adva Yermiyahu y Sharon Saguy, and the researcher Dr. Idit Suslik, who initiated and directed the project, say: “Silvia Duran is very much the cradle of the flamenco scene in Israel. In the turbulent times we live in, it was important for us to take advantage of the festival framework to pay tribute to her through a deep artistic observation of her work.” “This is not a standard tribute to her dance recreations, but rather an in-depth study conducted on the collection she deposited in the Israeli Dance Archive at Beit Ariela.”

Manuel Cazas

To this end, they have invited a wide range of dancers and creators, those who danced in Silvia’s company and those who did not, to offer contemporary interpretations of dances from her repertoire, and also to respond to images and videos, as well as texts that represent Silvia’s world. They will dance in their iconic costumes, which are also on display: Sharon Saguy, Adva Yermiyahu, Adi Akiva, Mijal Natan, Neta Shizaf, Carmel Natan Shelly and many more. They will be accompanied by the voice of Yehuda Shweiky and the guitar of Manuel Cazás, one of Spain’s most important musicians, who will also add original music.

The Israeli Andalusian Orchestra of Ashdod

Yarden and the “Andalusit”

Will present the fascinating show “The 3 Pomegranates” which brings together gypsy flamenco and traditional Andalusian music, a an original production with numerous local and international participants. The dancer Yarden Amir and the guitarist and creator Ofer Ronen, Israelis who have been working very successfully in Spain in recent years. In the production, Gypsy flamenco is combined with traditional Andalusian music in a show that truly transcends borders and cultures. For this, other soloists were invited in addition to those mentioned: the flamenco singer Yael Horovitz and the singer Dima Kablan (Andalusian and Arabic singing). The Sevillian guitarist will also perform The Fyty Cheek.

The artistic direction is by Elad Levy who reports that this original production, which marks the orchestra's 30th anniversary, was inspired by the city of Granada, “A city that established itself as the last fortress in which the three religions, Judaism, Islam and Christianity, maintained cultural and artistic ties. The Andalusian music that was created in the south of Spain formed a cultural bridge that managed to contain the different cultures that lived there.”
