At least 14 people were killed and around 30 injured in recent hours as a result of a new joint bombing campaign by the United States and the United Kingdom against positions of the Houthi rebels in Yemen, reported Al Masira television, spokesperson for the insurgent movement. .

According to the chain, the intense Western bombings that took place in several areas of Yemen left this number of victims only in the port city of Al Hodeida and the port of Al Salif, on the shores of the Red Sea, points from which the Houthis usually launch their attacks against commercial shipping.

In total, according to Al Masira, US and British forces carried out 13 airstrikes against Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen: six against Al Hodeida; four against the capital, Sanaa; two against the outskirts of Sana'a; and one against Taiz, the third city in the country and located in the southwest.

For its part, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that during the night from Thursday to Friday, Washington and London "carried out attacks against 13 Houthi targets in areas of Yemen controlled by Houthi terrorists backed by Iran." .

In statements from the North American Army, it was indicated that these bombings were carried out "in self-defense", since the drones destroyed with these attacks "presented a threat to US and coalition forces and merchant ships in the region."

"These actions are necessary to protect our forces, ensure freedom of navigation, and make international waters safer for U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels," CENTCOM stated.

Previously, the US stated that between 15.13:17.00 p.m. and 12.13:14.00 p.m. Sana'a time (30:XNUMX p.m. and XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. GMT) on May XNUMX, CENTCOM forces destroyed eight unmanned aerial vehicles in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, as well as over the Red Sea.

The United States and the United Kingdom began a bombing campaign against Houthi positions in Yemen in mid-January in response to the insurgents' attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.

The Houthis say that they attack ships that they consider linked to Israel or that are headed to an Israeli port, but in practice they are attacking in a fairly indiscriminate manner and sowing terror among the ships that circulate in the area.

The US and UK bombings have left dozens dead in the Houthi ranks and have also motivated an intensification of insurgent actions against commercial shipping, as well as against Western warships stationed in sea waters. Red.

The leader of the rebels, Abdelmalek al Huti, assured that the Iran-backed movement has attacked a total of 129 ships in the Red, Arabian, Mediterranean and Indian Ocean seas since they began operations in November in support of the Islamic terrorist group. Hamas fighting Israel in the Gaza Strip.

In the last week alone, the Houthis have carried out 12 operations in those waters and have used a total of 27 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones, according to their leader.

  1. It is a logical preventive action, carried out by the USA and the UK.
Now, if Israel does the same to guarantee its subsistence, well, that's not so good...
    Hypocrites.

  2. Spain, Ireland and Norway will come out in defense of the Houthis and the UN will put its flag at half-mast
