This news is very encouraging and encourages us to continue the excavations because there is much, much more to discover.
If archeology is used to self-legitimize an ethnic group, there is a risk of intervening in the scientific process. That there was a Jewish presence does not imply claiming, based on that, a territory.
Doesn't the fact that there was a Jewish presence in that territory 2000 years ago imply claiming that territory? So who do we give it to? Surely the one who has nothing to do with it and who later came to inhabit it... What flat and elementary reasoning...
Jewish presence...haha...it's like talking about Roman presence when the coliseum was excavated. You don't reclaim something that was never lost. The Syrian Persian Roman Muslim Christians would have conquered it but for the Jewish people Jerusalem was and will be their eternal capital.
