TreeTube is an Israeli startup based in Ramat Gan that develops and manufactures innovative and proven solutions for planting trees in urban areas, combating climate change.
Recently, the company introduced an innovative system that allows trees to thrive in urban environments, meeting the challenges imposed by the needs of utility companies. TreeTube offers modular, cost-effective and quick-install solutions.
Jonathan Antebi, co-founder and vice president of marketing and business development at TreeTube, explains that in today's construction projects, roads, sidewalks and buildings are the priority, and vegetation is considered only if there is any budget surplus.
However, Antebi emphasizes that “there must also be a place for trees, a green service.” Furthermore, he explains that 30% of urban trees stop growing in the first three to five years, and many do not even reach ten years due to extreme soil compaction.
Trees are vital to maintaining temperatures in cities. Since 2015, UN member states included this issue in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
TreeTube's patented system consists of massive tubes of inert plastic material, a quarter of which is recycled, that are installed under roads and sidewalks alongside infrastructure pipes and cables. This system allows the roots to direct towards a secondary habitat, allowing coexistence between nature and modernity.
Its modular and supporting system is made of HDPE plastic, which allows roots to grow under pavements and sidewalks, while making it lightweight, easy to handle and simple to install.
