The Defense Forces said the facility was used to plan and direct Palestinian militia attacks from Damascus against the Israeli state.

Israeli warplanes bombed the neighborhood of Dummar, in the northwest of Damasco, where according to the Israeli Army there was a “command center” belonging to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) used to plan attacks against the Jewish state.

“Recently, the Israeli Air Force carried out an intelligence-based strike against a terrorist command center belonging to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in Damascus.”, the Israeli Army said in a statement.

According to the officers, the facility "was used to plan and direct terrorist activities" by the Palestinian militia against Israel, while stressing that they will not allow "terrorist organizations to entrench themselves in Syrian territory or operate against the State of Israel."

The official Syrian news agency SANA reported that the fighter jets targeted the Dummar neighborhood, where columns of smoke rose as a result of this new Israeli attack on Syrian territory.

For its part, the private SyriaTV television station—close to the new transitional authorities in Damascus—said that preliminary reports indicated the bombing had left some injured.

On the other hand, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights The ministry said the attacks targeted "a building and a vehicle" and caused "fires in the surrounding residential buildings," while civil defense teams were deployed to rescue those trapped in the fire and debris.

It also indicated that the attack had left at least one dead, according to "reports" cited by this UK-based observatory, one of the most reliable sources of information in Syria since the outbreak of the war in 2011.

Following the attack, Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, said in a statement that “Islamic terrorism against Israel will have no immunity, neither in Damascus nor anywhere else,” while warning that his country will not allow “Syria to become a threat to the State of Israel.”

Katz also issued a warning against Syria's interim president, Ahmed al Sharaa, who before leading the offensive that overthrew the Syrian president Bachar al-Assad In December, at the head of the Islamist alliance Hayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS), he was known by his nom de guerre Abu Mohamed al Jolani.

"Wherever terrorist activity against Israel is organized, the leader of Islamic extremism, Jolani, will find air force planes circling above him and attacking terrorist targets.", the Israeli minister threatened.

Israel regularly attacked Syria in the final years of Assad's rule - a close ally of Iran and the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah– and, following the overthrow of the president, it has continued to bomb military positions in the Arab country to prevent—according to its authorities—the regime's weapons from falling into the hands of Islamist groups.

According to the Observatory, Israel has carried out a total of 27 attacks on Syrian territory since the beginning of 2025, 25 of them air strikes and the other two ground strikes. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least six people and the destruction of around thirty arms depots, barracks, military centers, and vehicles.
