Israeli Air Force fighter jets bombed Syrian territory near the Al Arida border crossing with Lebanon overnight to destroy an “arms trafficking route and terrorist infrastructure” used by the Shiite terrorist group Hezbollah.
"This attack is another element in the efforts of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to dismantle the arms trafficking routes used by the Syrian regime on the Syrian-Lebanese border in recent weeks," the military said in a statement this morning.
The Israel Defense Forces stressed that these attacks in Syria are aimed at degrading the efforts of Hezbollah's Unit 4400, which is engaged in delivering weapons from Iran to the Shiite terrorist group.
The attack comes just a week into a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. The IDF has warned that during the truce it will continue to disrupt arms shipments from Iran to the terror group, by targeting shipments anywhere in Lebanon and Syria.
The IDF released a video of the attacks along with a graphic indicating their locations.

Israel said Hezbollah was supported by the Syrian regime, which is currently facing an effective offensive by Islamist rebels, and was taking advantage of civilian infrastructure in Syria to smuggle weapons.
Israel's military leadership held a meeting yesterday to discuss the situation in Syria, shortly after insurgents captured the city of Hama, the country's fourth largest.
One of the fears of the Israeli authorities, according to Kan public radio, is that the rebels, in their advance towards the city of Homs, will reach the border in the Golan Heights.
The Yediot Ahronot daily pointed out three main threats to Israel in Syria that could bring the conflict closer: the arrival of Syrian weapons into the hands of the rebels during their advance, the need of the Bashar al-Assad regime for Iranian help at this time and the creation in the future of an Iranian-financed army in Syria.
The newspaper says that the advance of the rebels could lead to their getting their hands on weapons, missiles and even chemical weapons that are in the hands of the regime in the centre and south of the country.
On the other hand, the weakness of the Assad regime and Russia's "inability to protect it" lead, according to this media, to a scenario in which Assad will have to accept help from Iran, further increasing the influence of the Islamic Republic in Israel's neighbouring countries at a time when both nations maintain a constant exchange of threats.
Finally, the newspaper warns of a final scenario: the fall of the Syrian regime, turning the country into a failed state in which Iran can finance the creation of a militia dedicated to attacking Israel.
“The IDF is closely monitoring developments and is prepared for any scenario, both offensive and defensive. The IDF will not tolerate threats near the Lebanese-Syrian border and will thwart any threat against the State of Israel,” the IDF said in a brief statement yesterday.
The Times of Israel news website, citing an Israeli official on condition of anonymity, said Israeli officials hope the internal conflict in Syria will weaken both sides, and indicated the Hebrew state has no intention of taking sides.

We may have gathered the balls to attack Iran. To really attack. To withstand the onslaught and continue attacking until we overthrew the regime.
