The British government welcomed on Sunday the fact that British-Israeli Emily Damari was on the list of three hostages to be released by the Islamic terrorist group Hamas as part of the ceasefire agreement with Israel and expressed its willingness to collaborate where necessary.
A Foreign Office spokesman said Keir Starmer's government "welcomes reports that British national Emily Damari - the only British national still held captive - is on the list of hostages Hamas will release today."
The source said the government is “willing and prepared to support her when she is released.”
“We urge both sides to fully implement all phases of the agreement and to ensure that all hostages are returned,” the spokesman said.
The family of Damari, the last British hostage still in captivity, is also waiting for her return, after months of campaigning, which was supported by her favourite football club, London's Tottenham Hotspur.
As part of the deal between Hamas and Israel, the first three Israeli hostages are scheduled to be released this afternoon at 16:00 p.m. They have been identified as Damari, 28, Romi Gonen, 24, and Doron Steinbrecher, 31.
The three will be exchanged for 90 Palestinian detainees, and in seven days, on Saturday, another four hostages will be released, before proceeding to other phases of the agreement.
