AirHaifa is a new Israeli airline offering flights to Eilat and Cyprus, and its current base of operations is Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel-Aviv, although the plan is to establish a base in the city of Haifa in the future, a plan that had to be modified due to tensions in the region.
Flights officially began on October 14, addressing challenges and offering alternatives to travelers affected by the conflict. This is the first new Israeli airline since the 90s, and its inaugural flight took off for Larnaca, Cyprus, from Ben Gurion Airport.
The airline, co-founded by Michael Strassburger, is seeking to fill a gap in the market by offering low-cost flights to meet the high demand generated by the suspension of international routes following the Hamas attack in October 2023: “Launching under normal conditions would be ideal, but the Israeli market needs immediate solutions,” Strassburger said.
The airline already operates up to four daily flights between Ben Gurion and Larnaca, and announced that it will resume its initial plans and begin flights from Haifa Airport on December 22, with daily flights to Eilat and Cyprus, with additional destinations such as Paphos and other Greek islands planned for 2025.
“Volare…Volaréi…” New new…airport Will the Italian Domenico M., singer of Volaré, still be alive? When there is peace…in Haifa they will sing as the new passengers board. So be it.
