US President-elect Donald Trump said on Sunday that Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad has fled his country because his ally, Russian President Vladimir Putin, is “no longer interested in protecting him.”

“Assad is gone. He has fled his country. His protector, Russia, led by Vladimir Putin, was no longer interested in protecting him. There was no reason for Russia to be there in the first place. They lost all interest in Syria because of Ukraine, where nearly 600.000 Russian soldiers lie wounded or dead, in a war that should never have started,” Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.

The Assad family regime, which has ruled the Arab country since 1971, collapsed on Sunday at the hands of insurgents, mostly Islamists, led by the Levant Liberation Organization (Hayat Tahrir al Sham or HTS, in Arabic), who took Damascus with little resistance after just 12 days of offensive.

Bashar al-Assad fled the country on a “special” plane, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, and his whereabouts are unknown, while the Military Operations Command of the coalition of Islamist and pro-Turkish groups responsible for his downfall proclaimed Damascus “free of the tyrant Bashar al-Assad.”

Trump directly linked the fall of Assad, supported by Iran and Russia, with the war in Ukraine, which has forced Moscow to reduce its military presence in Syria, where it was installed when the war began in 2011 in support of the Damascus regime.

“Russia and Iran are both very weak at the moment, one because of Ukraine and a bad economy, and the other because of Israel and its military successes,” explained the next US president, who will take office on January 20 with the promise of “stopping wars.”

Trump said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has “ridiculously” asked for 400.000 troops and “stop the madness” of war.

“There should be an immediate ceasefire and negotiations should begin. Too many lives are being wasted unnecessarily, too many families are being destroyed, and if this continues, it could turn into something much worse,” Trump said of the war in Ukraine.

“I know Vladimir (Putin) well. This is his time to act. China can help. The world is waiting!” he added. EFE

  1. According to AI Copilot:

The al-Assad family has ruled Syria for more than five decades, beginning with Hafez al-Assad in 1970 and continuing with his son Bashar al-Assad since 2000.

During this time, the regime has maintained its power through a combination of authoritarian tactics, support from international allies, and control over key resources.

International Support: Russia and Iran have been major allies of the al-Assad regime, providing military and economic support.

This support has been crucial to the regime's survival, especially during the civil war.

Natural Resources: Syria has oil and gas reserves, although limited compared to other countries in the region. These resources have been an important source of income for the government.

War Economy: During the civil war, the regime has resorted to various tactics to finance itself, including controlling smuggling routes and producing drugs such as “Captagon.”

Repression and Control: The regime has maintained tight control over the population through repression and the use of loyalist security forces. This has included brutal tactics to stifle dissent and maintain order.

Support from the Alawite Minority: The al-Assad family belongs to the Alawite minority, which has been elevated to key positions in the government and the military. This has ensured a loyal support base within the country.

The situation in Syria remains extremely complex and volatile, with multiple actors and factors at play.

    Economic aspect

Over the past 50 years, oil and gas sales in Syria have seen significant ups and downs due to factors such as civil war and international sanctions.

On average, crude oil production in Syria has been approximately 166,671 barrels per day from December 1960 to 2022. However, production peaked in 1995 at 622,810 barrels per day and reached its lowest point in 2018 at 20,581 barrels per day.

In any case, we have an average of income from oil sales in 50 years considering an average of $70.00 USD/barrel of:
    $212,065,000,000.OO usdlls.

It is not known if there is any of that little treasure in the Swiss banks…well, for the Obregón syndrome…

Since then, the Catholic Church in Mexico has been watching Syria with great interest…why is that?

May God bless, protect, strengthen and give wisdom to Israel and Mexico always….!!!!
