Three soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were killed in combat yesterday, Monday, in the northern Gaza Strip, announced the military spokesman, while operations continue against the Islamic terrorist group Hamas that tries to regroup its forces in the area.

The deceased fighters were identified as Captain Ilay Gavriel Atedgi, 22, from Kiryat Motzkin, near Haifa in Israel’s northern coastal area, Staff Sergeant Netanel Pessach, 21, from Elazar, a community in the Gush Etzion bloc in Judea (southern West Bank), and Staff Sergeant (reserve) Hillel Diener, 21, from Talmon, a Jewish village in Mateh Binyamin, in Judea and Samaria (West Bank).

The deceased soldiers served in the Shimson (Samson) Battalion of the Kfir Brigade.

An initial investigation suggests the fighters were killed when a high-powered explosive device detonated in the Beit Hanoun area, in the far northeast of the Strip.

This brings the number of soldiers and security forces killed since the start of ground operations against Hamas in the coastal enclave since late October 391 to 2023.

The Kfir Brigade had earlier this week completed a major operation against Hamas in the nearby Palestinian town of Beit Lahiya.

Soldiers advanced on Beit Hanun after receiving intelligence information about the presence of terrorists and terrorist infrastructure in the area, the military spokesman said.
