The Israel Police arrested 133 people this Thursday in a special operation against crime in the country's Arab communities, which are experiencing an unprecedented peak of violence in 2023.
"Following a day of special law enforcement operation against perpetrators of crimes in Arab society, the Israel Police arrested 85 suspects and detained another 48 suspects for questioning," the corporation said in a statement.
The agents carried out 176 searches and seized 18 pistols, three M16 rifles, an improvised explosive device, various ammunition, vehicles, technological equipment, gold coins and the equivalent of $400.000 in cash, he added.
Israel's Arab community, which represents 20% of the population, faces an unprecedented wave of violence.
More than 140 Arabs have been murdered in Israel so far this year, surpassing the record of 126 violent deaths in all of 2021.
About 75% of the murders are related to organized crime, while the rest are attributed to blood feuds, femicides involving family members and other criminal activities, according to the same organization.
The Police attribute the escalation of the crisis to the fact that many of their forces have had to be deployed due to the constant anti-government protests, but activists for the equality and integration of Arabs in Israel attribute it to decades of passivity and lack of interest in the situation of that community. .
In fact, this crime is concentrated in the north of the country, in the so-called "Arab triangle", where the protest movement has been a minority.
Israeli authorities have failed to stop the bloodshed despite promising more resources, including more police and funds to address social problems within the Arab sector that underpin the crime wave.
The Government of Israel announced on August 9 that it will withhold funds of more than $55 million destined for Arab communities until it can ensure that they do not fall into the hands of organized crime.
The funds, approved by the previous government, were intended to boost the economy, improve infrastructure and combat crime in Arab communities.
With information from agencies.
Bravoooo!!!! I liked that about withholding the money from the Arab communities until it is established that it will not end up in the hands of criminals!!!
I hope this is read by the EU and other pro-Arabs around the world. So that they stop blaming Israel for their bad behavior and way of living.Shalom
THIS ISRAELI POLICE ACTION SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS A CLEANUP WITHIN THE PALESTINIAN MAFIAS IN ISRAEL ALSO PREVENTION OF FUTURE ATTACKS ON THOSE WHO MAY DISTURB THESE HEALTHY PRACTICES JUST ASK
If the Current Government Was Really Interested in the Arab Population, everything would be different
The government is not interested in stopping this, since the arms trafficking promoted by the US will not go against its interests, I always say it ISRAEL will never live in peace, the reason is simple and historical, THE KHAZARIS OR FALSE EUROPEAN JEWS, who converted to the TORA, they are the cause of this, they have a lot of power in the US, and from there they have already taken over 80 percent of ISRAEL, that is why today the advance of the basic and haredi is more brutal, according to studies in 5 years they will be 35 percent in the country, n
