The secret of Israeli disruptive innovation: “It is not a way of doing things, it is a way of being in the face of life and opportunities”

The year 2021 has been a record year for Israel's technology industry. More than 17.000 billion dollars collected (historical record) and the year is not over yet. In previous decades, Israeli start-ups created solutions that are used around the world today, such as USB memory or drip irrigation, and in 2021 they are now seeking answers to some of the most important problems facing our planet: From global warming to food demand, Israeli innovation is at the forefront of finding solutions.

In Latin America many wonder the secret behind Israel's innovative success but, mainly, they want to understand it to try to apply its foundations to the reality of Latin America.

A little over six months ago, the IN experience began – a unique virtual course that seeks to bring the best of Israeli disruptive innovation and bring it to real and adaptable terms for Latin America. Nearly 1.000 people have been part of IN's activities, giving it a score of 9.1/10, which is just one of the indicators of this success.. The eighth IN capsule will begin on November 8 and these days the last available spots are closing.

The course incorporates two parallel elements: on the one hand, pre-recorded modules with 19 of the main references of Israeli innovation that participants can watch over and over again to hear firsthand about the secret to success. On the other hand, the course includes three live virtual meetings with Isra Cinman, a trainer with decades of experience in Latin America using the Israeli disruptive thinking methodology.

We sat in a exclusive interview with Isra Cinman to share with the readers of Aurora more about the IN experience as well as its perspective on the future of the Latin American region.

A: What is IN – The Israeli Disruptive Innovation Route?

IC: It is a deep dissection of the intra- and interpersonal processes that generate events that generate results on a personal, social and organizational level. It is the differentiated appointment in exploring and taking tools from how those who do do and what those who create believe in. In short – it is a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Israeli disruptive thinking with applicable lessons to generate significant change.

A: What change do you think this experience generates in people? What do you carry in your toolbox that you didn't have before?

IC: They take a large number of specific tools, not from doing, but from something much deeper that is from THE BEING, from identity. If we work from being, and not just from doing, this generates a real impact.
The differential of IN is that they are intrapersonal tools in which each person explores their processes to discover the best of themselves with a methodology that serves to expand the best of each person and inhibit what is not allowing them to generate the life you want to have. To be able to disrupt each other's ecosystem in order to expand it.

A: Do you think it is really possible to make a change in Latin America in the area of innovation and disruptive thinking?

IC: Not only is it possible, but it is already being made possible by the nearly one thousand people who have participated in the INtraining. In addition, they are connecting with each other throughout Latin America and we are managing to achieve the network of Latin American disruptors who are beginning to be part of a true community and thus expand the relational capital so that they can share good practices and possibilities with many people from all over America. Be part of a great community of disruptors to continue growing, beyond the training that is being done.

A: What are the main lessons that can be learned from Israel for Latin America?

IC: There is a similarity between the Israeli background of how to manage uncertainty and how to manage the few resources (of Israel in the physical, natural point of view) but also in Latin America we also have adversity, uncertainty and insecurity. From that place, people find in Israeli tools an inspirational roadmap, realizing that it is possible to make a change and above all dismantle the models of paralysis and to operate in the Israeli model that jumps from analytical paralysis to generative operation.

A: What reactions have you had so far with IN?

IC: The participants are amazed because many come looking for a new business plan model and here they find that the most effective business plan is when you can organize all the players, internal and external, to achieve an objective. We do not work on magic recipes, but rather we are transferring self-development so that each person can create their own roadmap. It is not a way of doing things, but a way of being in the face of life and opportunities.

A: Tell us about a concept that is learned at IN and that you would like to share.

IC: To choose one of the hundreds of concepts and works that we do during IN, I share that one of the work tools is the “mandala of resilience”: how people work on developing their own mandala to strengthen themselves in the face of adversity and against unwanted results. When they come across this tool, there is a lot of excitement and people begin to realize that many things that are normally taught in innovation are dwarfed by a tool like this.

A: What differentiates IN from other online experiences?

IC: IN works fundamentally on the foundational space of people who want to make a change in their life. We go to intrapersonal work and then we go to interpersonal and transpersonal. The other proposals that exist work on things more linked to recipes and issues related to making, but they do not work on the fundamental point. Disruption and innovation is a way of life. Therefore, the key is to work further back in the process, really in the DNA, in the disruptive gene of the person, in order to consolidate it and then have the tools make it work. IN is the fundamental foundation where disruptive processes can grow.

A: How can they offer IN for only $40 when similar programs cost hundreds of dollars? Does it have to do with your vision?

IC: Without a doubt, the price has nothing to do with the value that IN generates. We seek to make it an amount that is accessible to everyone who wants to be part. A value of the two institutions that created the program, the Cinman Institute and Conexión Israel, is that we believe that knowledge does not belong to those who create it but to those who use it and that access to knowledge has to be massive and we see it as an element of Tikkun Olam (the Jewish concept of responsibility to fix the world): the more people access this knowledge, the better the world.

A: Knowing both Israel and Latin America in depth, where is the key to cooperation between the two?

IC: We strongly believe that the network between the Israeli ecosystem and everything that is the disruptive network of Ibero-America has extraordinary opportunities to create unique synergies. We can create value in a wide variety of proposals in the social, ecological and much more. We can create a multicultural ecosystem. We strongly believe in this connection since the millions of Spanish speakers, together with the Israeli mentality and resilience, can make a unique pairing.

A: Many people in Latin America see Israel as a very distant example, as something that is unattainable for them. What message would you give them?

IC: In Latin America many people believe that Israel is very far away. We not only wanted people to physically come to Israel, but now we are doing the opposite: we are bringing Israel to Latin America. We are much closer than we think and we can generate joint ventures and transfer and share knowledge and objectives.

A: A general message to Aurora readers

IC: Aurora has been the cultural bridge for many years that brings Israel to our souls. Aurora is the portal through which we can find each other. I am very grateful for what he is doing, for what he has done over the years. I even remember the first day I bought Aurora when I immigrated to Israel and waiting for Aurora to come out was an energy, it filled you with desire and you knew that you were part of a larger ecosystem. Thank you Aurora for continuing to be that important and essential bridge that makes us more integrated.
