The search for the singer who will represent Israel at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland, has already begun. The selection is being broadcast on Channel 12 in a programme called Kochav Haba, meaning The Next Star.

This year, the process is marked by emotional performances, as many of the participants are survivors of the attack on October 7, 2023, or have a shocking story in relation to the ongoing war in the country.

One of them is Yuval Raphael, a survivor of the Supernova festival, who performed Demi Lovato's song Anyone, which deals with mental health.

After the performance, the audience gave her a 98% score, the highest rating up to that point. In addition, Yuval said that she survived that tragic day by pretending to be dead in a bomb shelter.

The programme also included more playful performances, such as the Red Band, a puppet show that mixed music and comedy with singer Moran Aharoni in a cover of Rag'n'Bone Man's Human.
