Anti-Semitic graffiti on Shoah Memorial is a Russian operation, according to police

The French police are considering the hypothesis that the anti-Semitic graffiti that appeared on the Shoah Memorial in Paris last week is part of a Russian destabilization operation.

The weekly 'Le Canard Enchainé' publishes the information this Wednesday, citing sources from the Paris Police Prefecture.

The graffiti, which shows red hands, was made on the Wall of the Righteous, where the names of 3.900 people who helped save Jews from deportation during World War II are engraved.

The red hands are considered "a cry of hatred against the Jews", in the words of the president of the Representative Council of the Jewish Institutions of France (Crif), Yonathan Arfi, and their presence was also condemned by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, who then assured that the Republic would be "inflexible in the face of abominable anti-Semitism."

The perpetrators of this act of vandalism are, according to the police investigation, three Bulgarian men who were captured by nearby security cameras around three in the morning on the 14th. Two of them in the midst of graffiti activity and another accomplice responsible for film the scene.

The perpetrators, who could be identified thanks to their mobile phones, would have left the French capital that same morning on a bus heading to Brussels.

The police suspect that this is a planned action from Russia due to the history in this regard.

Last November, French authorities blamed Russian secret services for graffitiing hundreds of blue Stars of David on Jewish-owned buildings.

Then those responsible were a trio of Moldovans, who confessed to having been paid by a Russian man, in an action that occurred a few weeks after the start of the war between Israel and the Islamic terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The police are also considering the possibility that Russia is behind other graffiti that appeared related to the Olympic Games last March on the Notre Dame Cathedral. EFE and Aurora
