Spanish VOX MEP Jorge Martín Frías today expressed his deep concern about the lack of impartiality in the proceedings of the International Criminal Court (ICC), chaired by Japanese President Tomoko Akane. In an appearance before the European Parliament's Committee on Human Rights, he highlighted specific cases that demonstrate this, including that of Israel.
"It is inconceivable and reprehensible that the ICC would equate the prime minister of a democratic state like Benjamin Netanyahu, who has the right and duty to protect his nation, Israel, with the murderers and perpetrators of the largest terrorist attack. I am obviously referring to Hamas, which perpetrated one of the largest terrorist acts, murdering, maiming, and raping Israelis," he said during the hearing.
The right-wing MEP also referred to the cases of Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran and publicly wondered when exactly "the Court issued an arrest warrant against criminals and tyrants like Miguel Díaz-Canel, the Ayatollah of Iran Ali Khamenei, or Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who are holding their people prisoner: How is it possible that you issue an arrest warrant against a democratic leader who is fulfilling his primary obligation, that of defending and protecting his nation?"
Addressing Tomoko Akane, Martín Frías added that "if this path continues, there should be no doubt that more and more states will leave the ICC, and the European Union should immediately freeze all funding."
VOX has questioned from the outset the issuance of arrest warrants in November 2024 against Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and in this context, has presented a non-legislative motion in the Spanish Congress of Deputies expressing its rejection of these warrants and requesting that Spain's financial contributions to the ICC be made conditional on the withdrawal of said warrants.
Cuba, Venezuela and Iran…
In the case of Venezuela, he denounced the inaction of prosecutor Karim Khan regarding Nicolás Maduro, whom he accuses of leading the "Cartel of the Suns" and the "Tren de Aragua" cartel, holding him responsible for crimes against humanity and ongoing human rights violations. Furthermore, Martín Frías questioned the opening of an ICC office in Caracas to "improve" and "assist" the regime's investigative capabilities, highlighting a potential conflict of interest due to the family relationship between prosecutor Khan and a member of Maduro's legal team. He also mentioned the resignation of Chilean prosecutor Claudio Grossman Guiloff last December, who criticized the inaction of the international prosecutor's office.
At the party level, VOX has been the only party in Spain to unconditionally defend Israel since the October 7 massacre, and next week MEPs Juan Carlos Girauta, Hermann Tertsch, and Mireia Borrás will travel to Jerusalem to participate in the "Conference on the Fight Against Antisemitism" organized by the Ministry of Diaspora.
The center-right PP's alignment with Israel has been more personal, particularly among the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso; the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida; and several mayors from the province.

The last people anyone decent would want to support in any way, much less related to justice, are the heirs of the fascist and pro-Nazi Falangist criminals who never allow investigations into the many crimes against humanity committed by the Spanish fascists. On top of that, they have named the neo-Nazi Jordi de la Fuente as the leader of their new fascist union. He is accused along with other neo-Nazis of violence, is pro-Russian, and was in Lebanon taking pictures with Hezbollah and buying a large patch of the jihadist organization to wear sewn on his neo-Nazi jacket. They shouldn't talk about the CPI either. These far-rightists, or the Spaniards who support them, filed a complaint against the current coalition government of socialists and communists for the Spanish deaths from coronavirus. This complaint didn't even make the first cut. In reality, the many targeted killings in the free public healthcare system and privatized public nursing homes were caused by the many cuts and privatizations by their right-wing friends in the Popular Party, and especially by the corrupt president of Madrid, Isabel Ayuso.
All very nice, but Vox represents the most rancid of fascist Francoism, ultra-Catholic of Vox Dei and anti-Semitic
I correct, Opus Dei
The PP party is known as the cowardly right
