On January 25, the auction house Sotheby's will put up for sale a unique collection of baseball cards of Jewish players, which with more than 500 units is considered the largest in the world.

The nearly 500 cards represent 191 Jewish players, and are expected to fetch an estimated price of between $500,000 and $700,000 at auction.

Featured players in the collection include Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax and Hank Greenberg, Ron Blomberg, Norm and Larry Sherry, Ian Kinsler and also Lipman Pike, considered baseball's first notable Jewish player.

Among the most valuable pieces is an 1867 tintype of the player Levi Meyerle, one of only two existing internationally, estimated to have a current value of between $250,000 and $300,000.

The origin of this extraordinary collection dates back to Seymour Stoll, who found a Sandy Koufax card when he was 14, which is when his passion as a collector began. After more than 50 years of dedication, Stoll managed to collect a card of every Jewish player who has participated in a professional game through the 2024 season.
