They raided the house. They found a computer with more records than imaginable. A woman was seen lying on a bed, like a rag doll. It was Gisèle, the wife of the electrician Dominique Pelicot. We were looking into a bottomless pit of horror.

The book and how it was made

This story and the questions it raised prompted the team at Let's read, the digital publishing house of Infobae, to compile a large amount of information and transform it into an e-book that can be accessed for free from Bajalibros. To manage the large volume of data and meet the demands of fast production, it was decided to use Artificial Intelligence tools.

The process began with the design of a specialized “bot,” developed by an expert. This bot was fed with materials previously selected by the journalistic team, ensuring that the information was reliable. The editors and the AI ​​expert, who were valuable participants, structured the book’s narrative and guided the bot in narrating the complex and delicate story.

Once the bot had completed its part of the work, the human team verified the data, added relevant textual quotes and finally incorporated columns by three authors -Hinde Pomeraniec, Luciana Peker and Patricia Kolesnicov- that had already been published in Infobae. For the story, although an attempt was made to maintain precision in the essential information, certain “blind spots” were also allowed for through narrative license, capturing atmospheres and dialogues that delve deeper into the story through fiction.

This project represents a collaborative effort between AI technology and human talent, providing insight into one of the most moving incidents of the year.
