the community of Chabad Barcelona has just entertained three Israeli soldiers affected by the war against Hamas, and the wife of one of them, on a special Shabbat to help them in their recovery.
The initiative of Rabbi David Libersohn has brought Tzvi, Or, Uriel, and the latter's wife Roni to Barcelona this last weekend, to spend four days in which they have been able to walk around the city, go out to eat in restaurants and share a Shabbat at Chabad headquarters.
The project was conceived by the community several weeks ago as “a way to give back to our beloved soldiers and people affected by the war in Israel,” says a statement, “and we came up with the initiative to invite people who would like to spend a weekend long week in Barcelona as special guests of our community.
The community did a test weeks ago with Eyal, a soldier who left recovering in Israel after a serious wound in Gaza: "We had a good time with him and decided to make this project an initiative to bring more like him, that is, "that they are after the recovery or treatment process and that they can travel."
The idea is that they come accompanied by one of the people who care for them, for a four-day stay in which they can clear their heads and enjoy a break from the harsh reality that they have had to live with since the massacre of October 7.
«Our goal is to bring the soldier with another person. Whether it is his wife, his mother or any other family member or friend. The people who went through the recovery process with them in the hospital and who need 'fresh air' as much as the soldier, or someone who can accompany them," indicates the press release.
This solidarity project has been carried out completely privately, financed by members of the Chabad community in Barcelona, the support of the organization, Rabbi Libersohn and his family. The group of donors takes care of the plane and hotel tickets, and once in Barcelona, members of the community offer to invite them to dinner at their homes, visits to restaurants, excursions around the city and any other activity they can offer. .
