After a year of reduced routes and service interruptions, the airline low cost Ryanair has announced that it plans to operate a full schedule of flights to Tel Aviv this summer.
On Thursday, Eddie Wilson, CEO of Ryanair subsidiary DAC, said the company intends to resume flights to and from Israel via Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
Like most airlines, Ryanair suspended flights to Israel after the war began in October 2023 with the Hamas attack. From that moment until today, they followed the recommendations of the European aviation regulator (EASA), which advised against using Israeli airspace. However, these restrictions were lifted in October following a ceasefire with Lebanon.
With the suspension of flights, El Al became the only direct option from Tel Aviv to North America, leading to a drastic reduction in available seats and an increase in fares of up to 100%.
