Putin appointed his envoys to start negotiations between Russia, the United States and Ukraine to end the war

The Kremlin will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is already in Riyadh.

The Kremlin announced today a Meeting on Tuesday between representatives of Russia and the United States in the Saudi capital Riyadh to discuss the normalization of bilateral relations, preparations for a summit between the presidents of both countries and future peace negotiations on Ukraine.

By order of the president, Vladimir PutinRussia will be represented by the Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, and Kremlin adviser, Yuri Ushakov, who have already left for Riyadh, explained Dmitri Peskov, presidential spokesman, in his daily telephone press conference.

“They are expected to hold a meeting with their American counterparts in Riyadh on Tuesday, which will focus on First of all, the restoration of the entire spectrum of Russian-American relations.”, Dijo.

Peskov added that the meeting will also be dedicated “to the preparation of possible negotiations for the settlement in Ukraine and the organization of the meeting” between Putin and his American counterpart, Donald Trump.

The Kremlin spokesman stressed that today in the world "everyone is now trying to talk about what needs to be done to stop the war, whatever it takes."

“This is a positive thing”, Dijo.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, is already in Riyadh for talks. Along with Rubio, US officials such as Trump's national security adviser, Mike Waltz, and the White House envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, also participate in the meetings.

These talks come after US President Donald Trump said Donald Trump, spoke on the phone last week Putin and ordered senior U.S. officials to begin negotiations to end the conflict, a promise Trump reiterated during his presidential campaign.

Riad, which is also involved in negotiations with Washington on the future of the Gaza Strip, has played a key role in early contacts between the Trump administration and Moscow, facilitating a prisoner exchange last week.

These conversations will be high-level and mark one of the first face-to-face meetings between US and Russian officials in years.

Speaking on Sunday, Rubio said the next few weeks would determine whether Putin is truly interested in achieving peace.

At the same time, the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky is also found in the region. On Sunday it reached the United Arab Emirates, and although he plans to visit Saudi Arabia y Türkiye, no date has been set for these trips.

Zelensky clarified that he has no plans to meet with Russian or American officials, and Ukraine is not expected to take part in the talks hosted by Saudi Arabia.

Talks on Gaza

Rubio will meet with the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS) of Saudi Arabia. The agenda also includes the proposal of Trump on the resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza in other Arab countries, with U.S. leading the reconstruction of the region. This proposal has sparked outrage in the Arab world and raised fears among Palestinians in Gaza of being displaced from the coastal strip.

Saudi Arabia, along with other Arab nations, has rejected any plan involving the resettlement of Palestinians. Instead, Riad leads Arab efforts to develop a counterproposal that could include a reconstruction fund led by the Gulf countries and an agreement to set aside Hamas.

Crown Prince MbS has also insisted that Saudi Arabia will not normalize its relations with Israel, a long-standing goal of Washington, without reaching an agreement on the creation of a Palestinian state.

On Sunday, Rubio also visited Israel and met with the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reaffirming US support for Israel in its regional rivalry with Iran.
