Hundreds of demonstrators took part in two simultaneous protests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday night, near his residence in Jerusalem and in the northern city of Caesarea, where he has his second residence, demanding his resignation and the signing of an agreement with Hamas for the release of the hostages.

"Until he leaves, until he takes the blame," they chanted after a day marked by the call for the first general strike, which ended at midday by order of the courts.

Public anger against the Israeli president has soared following the discovery of the bodies of six hostages killed in the Gaza Strip early Saturday morning by the army.

The Israeli Ministry of Health confirmed that these six hostages were “executed by Hamas” between last Thursday and Friday, just a few days before they were found by troops.

“Your decisions are leading to their deaths,” shouted Nissan Calderon, brother of hostage Ofer Calderon, on a stage set up near Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem.

Relatives of the hostages blame Netanyahu for the deaths of these six hostages not having signed a truce agreement with Hamas in recent months which “would have allowed the release of the captives alive.”

"This agreement represents not only the best chance of saving lives but also the only path to a better future for the entire region," the Forum of Hostage Relatives said in a statement on Monday.

In the text also They welcome the fact that the government of US President Joe Biden is working on drafting a new ceasefire, as leaked today in American media.

“We urge Netanyahu to demonstrate similar resilience, determination and commitment to the lives of the hostages,” the statement said.
