This year, the Hanukkah holiday begins on December 25 and ends on January 1. As every year, the Western Wall is preparing to host the annual candle-lighting ceremonies for the holiday, but this year the events will pay tribute to “miracles, exploits and wars,” with the emotional participation of hostage families, grieving families, wounded IDF soldiers, IDF officers and soldiers, members of the Israel Police and security forces.
Every evening, the Western Wall Heritage Foundation invites everyone to attend a ceremony at the Western Wall Plaza, accompanied by music. The ceremonies will also be broadcast live on its official website.
As part of preparations for the holiday, the traditional Hanukkah menorah, over two meters tall and made entirely of cast bronze, has already been placed in the plaza. The figure weighs approximately one ton and took seven months to build. In addition, another menorah was installed on top of the Western Wall Heritage Center building.
