Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich visited the Jordan Valley.
At the start of the visit, they received briefings from Deputy Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Major General Amir Baram, Head of Central Command, Major General Avi Bluth, and Commander of the Jordan Valley Brigade, Colonel Aviv Amir, while observing the border between Israel and Jordan.
The Prime Minister and the Finance Minister also inspected an exhibition of military equipment and the capabilities of units active in the sector, as well as weapons that have been seized in various operations.
Netanyahu then met with fighters from the Kfir Lions Brigade of the Jordanian Battalion and the Masada Unit of the Penitentiary Service.
“We are in a multi-front war. Sadly, we lost two fighters in Rafah today. We send our deepest condolences to their families. In this multi-front fight, we also know that we must secure our eastern border with Jordan. This is a border of peace. We are cooperating with the Kingdom of Jordan to ensure that it remains that way,” the prime minister said.
He then warned that “The challenges have increased recently. There is an attempt to smuggle terrorists and war material across the Jordan into Judea and Samaria and into the cities of Israel. We are working here in cooperation with all elements to stop this.”
The Prime Minister was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Tzachi Braverman, Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs, his Military Secretary, Major General Roman Gofman and the Prime Minister's Spokesman, Dr. Omer Dostri.
