The Secretary of State supported the controversial idea presented by the president, which seeks the temporary relocation of Palestinians for the reconstruction of the territory.

The US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, defended this Thursday the proposal of Donald Trump for reconstruction from the Gaza Strip, presented in recent days, and called on its detractors to “take a step forward” with another solution, which would allow relief and greater well-being to be brought to the Palestinian people in the long term.

“There are countries in the region that have expressed great concern. We encourage them to step forward and present a solution.”, Rubio said in an implicit reference to Arab nations, which were the most vocal in their disapproval of the idea.

“President Trump has offered to come in and be part of a solution. If other countries are willing to step up and do it themselves, that would be fantastic, but no one seems to be rushing to do it.”, he added, while encouraging nations with “economic and technological capacity” to participate in the future of the territory.

This week, as part of the Prime Minister's visit Benjamin Netanyahu In Washington, Trump announced his proposal for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, a territory currently “uninhabitable” due to the massive destruction caused by fighting between the Israel Defense Forces and Hamas.

The president assured that Israel will hand over the territory once the fighting ends and that “The United States will take charge” and “will do a good job” with the.

“We will possess it and We will be responsible for dismantling all dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons at the site.. We will level the place and We will create an economic development that will provide an unlimited number of jobs and housing for the people of the area.", he said about his idea, which also aims to bring “great stability to that part of the Middle East and, perhaps, the entire Middle East.”

Idea will not require the intervention of American soldiers, presidential spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt clarified, and “it does not mean that American taxpayers are going to finance this effort,” she said at a press conference.

For all this, it would be necessary relocate the Palestinians who are still settled there, a task that Trump hopes will be completed with the help of Egypt Jordan.

These countries would receive "probably one million seven hundred thousand people, perhaps one million eight hundred thousand, (that) would be resettled where they can have a beautiful life (…), in safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern houses (…), and They would have the opportunity to be happy, be safe and be free.", he said in this regard.

However, the nations in question have rejected the idea as a forced displacement of this town and warn of its “catastrophic consequences.”

Netanyahu, for his part, conveyed his support for the American initiative and assured that “It's the first good idea I've heard”. “It is an extraordinary idea that I think should be pursued, examined and carried out because I believe that could create a different future for everyone"he said, responding to criticism over the temporary relocation of Palestinians.

“What is wrong with allowing Gazans who want to leave to leave? They can leave, they can come back, but Gaza must be rebuilt.”He said.

  1. That Iran, which has so much land, gives a piece of its territory to the Palestinians so that they can build their state there, creating their houses, their fields and a peaceful life in an Islamic country.
