Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv was originally scheduled to play Besiktas in the Europa League in Istanbul. Even before the incidents in Amsterdam on November 7, when some Israeli fans were attacked, UEFA had decided to move the match to Hungary due to security concerns.
But UEFA has now decided that the match will be played behind closed doors at the Nagyerdei stadium in Debrecen. The measure was demanded by the Hungarian authorities following violent attacks suffered by Israeli fans.
The Israeli club completed its final training session at the Kiryat Shalom complex in Tel Aviv before travelling to Hungary. Despite the tensions, Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Zarko Lazetic stressed that the team's priority is football: "It's not a question for me what happened outside the stadium. We try to focus on football."
This team has no right to play in a non-Asian league. Let them go to India, where the gypsy Abraham the hermaphrodite came from! However, all Arabs and South Africans are welcome in our countries.
