KKL-JNF donates nearly NIS 20 million to firefighting teams in Northern Israel

Since the conflict began with the Hamas attack on October 7, approximately 37.000 acres of land have been consumed by fire in the Golan Heights, Upper Galilee and Lower Galilee. A large part of this is open areas, while a percentage is also forests managed by Hamas. Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF) The fires represent the greatest damage northern Israel has ever faced, even compared to the Second Lebanon War.

The security situation in northern Israel remains high, with firefighting teams in frontline communities working tirelessly to extinguish the blazes and protect people but also local flora and fauna. 

As a result of KKL's work, a total of 19 communities adjacent to forests managed by the organization will receive NIS 13.6 million in support, while another 36 communities near open areas will receive an additional NIS 5.5 million. 

Ifat Ovadia-Luski, chairwoman of KKL-JNF, said they “deeply value the fire crews who work day and night to tackle the numerous fires that directly threaten communities and the natural environment. Emergency response teams in these communities are also actively fighting the fires, risking their lives in the process.” 

He added that “the collaboration between Israel Fire and Rescue Services and KKL-JNF firefighting teams strengthens our ability to tackle the numerous fires caused by war.”
