Argentine President Javier Milei has canceled his visit to Israel, scheduled for next week, official sources confirmed, due to the country's internal situation, where anti-government protests are ongoing.

Milei was scheduled to travel to Israel to meet with its authorities and address the Israeli Parliament.

While the Argentine Presidency limited itself to confirming the suspension of the trip, the newspaper The Jerusalem Post reported that the cancellation is due to “internal events in Argentina.”

Last week, the Argentine president canceled the first leg of his trip, which was scheduled to take him to Madrid, where he was to receive the Salamanca Award on Friday the 21st from the Friday Club, an ultra-liberal think tank.

In a statement issued by this Spanish organization, it acknowledged that Milei was canceling her trip to Spain due to the current internal situation in the country.

The pensioners' protests, supported by unions and social movements, are compounded by a possible general strike in April and the devaluation of the Argentine peso, amid uncertainty surrounding the signing of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which will further deepen the country's debt.
