Founded in 2021, Zichron-based startup Yaakov DirecTrain presented a solution it called “dynamic coupling,” which is an innovative system that allows trains to join and separate in motion, optimizing both efficiency and speed.

According to Alberto Mandler, CEO of the startup, the implementation of this technology does not require costly modifications to the existing infrastructure and uses the same components already installed in the trains.

“Nowadays, trains pass through many intermediate stations and then reach the city. We can change it completely, because we can connect and disconnect trains based on demand,” Mandler explained.

DirecTrain is developing the first prototype in France, together with a Serbian engineering company, and claims that it will be ready by the end of 2025 and will be able to couple trains at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour, significantly increasing operational efficiency and reducing congestion.
