The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that the two Palestinian terrorists who were killed last night near the city of Jenin in Samaria (northern West Bank) were the authors of the deadly attack perpetrated on January 6, on the road that passes through the Palestinian town of al Funduq, in which three Israelis were killed.

Hamas has claimed responsibility for the January 6 attack and confirmed that Qautaiba al-Shalabi and Mohammed Nazal, who were killed last night, were the perpetrators of the attack in which three Israelis were killed.

Fighters from the IDF’s Duvdevan special force, operatives from the Shabak intelligence agency and soldiers from other units surrounded a building in Wadi Burqin, and immediately began employing the tactic known in military jargon as “pressure cooker,” which involves intensifying the volume of fire to force the terrorists holed up in the building to leave.

The exchange of fire lasted for about four hours and ended with the deaths of the two Palestinian terrorists. One soldier suffered moderate injuries, the military spokesman said.

Hamas said the two terrorists killed were members of its organization, while the IDF said they were members of the self-proclaimed Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The military spokesman added that several suspects who assisted in the deadly attack earlier this month have been arrested in the ongoing raid in the Jenin area.

On January 6, on the road through the town of al-Funduq, at least three Palestinian terrorists shot dead an off-duty police officer, First Sergeant Elad Yaakov Winkelstein, and Rachel Cohen and Aliza Raiz, as they were traveling in two cars.
