A group of scientists from the Asher Space Research Institute of the technion, led by Yoram Rozen, are working on the development of an ambitious space sunshade.
Called Cool Earth, its objective is to redefine the fight against global warming and could reduce average global temperatures by about 1.5ºC (2.7ºF) within 12 to 18 months.
This innovative technology would consist of an opaque and reflective blanket, with an estimated weight of 2.5 million tons that would be deployed 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, mainly over equatorial areas, moving with the Earth's rotation around the sun.
According to Rozen, the parasol was not his idea: “it has been around for about 15 years. There are some articles about these types of solutions, but we are the ones trying to make it a reality. “If we can’t prove it can work technologically, then no one else will.”
The estimated cost of the entire project amounts to 30 billion dollars, but the team of researchers is initially seeking 15 million to develop a small prototype.
Will it be possible? If Israel achieves such a thing, it would be fantastic and recognized by everyone except the Iranian, Hezgolese and Houthi terrorists who are mindless.
