Shoresh, a brand known for its iconic sandals and tactical gear founded in 1989 by Yoki Gil, operates in Tirat Carmel, Israel.
Shoresh is the first factory in the country to achieve net-zero emissions in electricity and transport, proving that the future can be cleaner and more profitable.
Since its inception, the company has grown to a company with 350 employees and an annual turnover of NIS 400 million, exporting 80% of its production.
At the factory, electricity is generated by solar panels on the roof, and all company vehicles are electric. The company consumes locally produced electricity, reducing dependence on the national grid by 80%.
Gil began transforming his business in 2019, investing in solar panels, storage batteries and electric vehicles. Although the initial cost was high, he argues that “instead of paying electricity and gasoline bills, you pay the interest on the loan. Once it is paid off, you have no more expenses.”
Its next goal is to achieve net zero emissions from plastic waste, for which it will import a waste gasification unit, thus converting waste into heat and usable gas without generating polluting emissions.
