Israel's ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, said Tuesday that Israel will show "no mercy" to its enemies and "will not stop until all the hostages are back home," after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a surprise attack against the Islamic terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
In a video statement posted on his X account, Danon says he will make it “very clear” to the UN Security Council that “if they want to stop the war in Gaza, they have to ensure that the hostages will return to Israel.”
Danon's message comes after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the resumption of the war against Hamas in Gaza, following the failure of negotiations for the release of hostages and the continuation of the ceasefire with the Islamic terrorist group, which has been in place for nearly two months.
The Air Force has been bombing various Hamas targets in the north and south of the Gaza Strip since just after 2:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Palestinian terrorist organizations still hold 59 hostages (around 33 of them are believed to be dead, according to the IDF) in Gaza, following the release of 5 Israeli captives (plus XNUMX Thais) during the first phase of the ceasefire, which ended two weeks ago without agreement on its continuation.
However, the truce remained in effect for the past two weeks while negotiations between Hamas and Israel continued, but ultimately failed.
