Israel Defense Forces (IDF) chief Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi has vowed that his troops will not stop attacking Hezbollah in Lebanon until they have ensured the “safe return” of more than 60.000 people evacuated from northern communities.

“Hezbollah will continue to fire and we will continue to fight, implementing plans, going further, conducting deep strikes and hitting Hezbollah very hard. We will stop when we know that we are bringing the residents back safely,” Halevi said.

Since early Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces have been relentlessly bombing Hezbollah targets in the area known as Dahye in the southern suburbs of Beirut, considered one of the Lebanese terrorist group's strongholds, where it has launched at least four waves of attacks.

The coastal city of Tyre has also been targeted by Israeli attacks launched in two separate rounds throughout the day yesterday.

"The strikes targeted a number of military assets belonging to Hezbollah's Aziz unit, which is responsible for carrying out attacks against Israel," the military spokesman said of the latest wave of attacks launched against the pro-Iranian Shiite terrorist group in Tyre.

Before each attack, the Israel Defense Forces take precautions to “protect the civilian population” by sending requests for evacuation and claiming that their strikes are aimed at military targets of the Lebanese Shiite terrorist organization.

“Hezbollah has systematically infiltrated its terrorist infrastructure among the Lebanese civilian population, cynically exploiting them as human shields,” they said in their statement.

The IDF also detected around 80 rockets and four drones fired from Lebanon against different points in the north of the country, including Haifa, Upper Galilee and Western Galilee.

Amidst this crossfire, diplomatic efforts to try to achieve a ceasefire continue to advance.

Lebanese parliament speaker and Hezbollah ally Nabih Berri confirmed receipt of an American proposal during an interview with London-based Arabic daily Al Sharq al Awsat.
