Fighters from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), in collaboration with Shabak intelligence agents (General Security Service), recovered and returned to the country the bodies of five Israelis murdered and kidnapped during the October 7 massacre, perpetrated by the Islamic terrorist group Hamas in Israeli territory.
Ravid Katz, 51, Oren Goldin, 33, Maya Goren, 56, Sergeant Kiril Brodski, 19, and First Sergeant Tomer Yaakov Ahimas, 20, had been declared dead some time ago by Israeli authorities; but his mortal remains remained captive in Gaza, until yesterday.
The five were killed on October 7 and their bodies taken to Gaza by Palestinian terrorists led by Hamas.
The captive bodies were found in Kha Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip. The operation to rescue the mortal remains was carried out by special forces of the 98th. Shabak division and agents, said the military spokesman.
Thanks to the interrogation of Palestinian terrorists detained in Gaza and other intelligence sources, soldiers reached a site in Khan Yunis where the bodies were hidden, against the backdrop of a new military operation in the southern city of the coastal enclave.
An estimated 111 hostages remain in Gaza, including 39 who have been confirmed dead by the IDF. A total of 251 people were kidnapped by Hamas during the October 7 massacre almost 10 months ago.
Goren resided in Kibbutz Nir Oz and Goldin in Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak on the border with the Gaza Strip.
Brodski and Ahima fell in combat while serving in the forward command team of the Southern Brigade of the Gaza Division, led by Colonel Asaf Hamami. They died during the clash against dozens of Hamas terrorists who invaded Kibbutz Nirim. Hamami's body is believed to still be held captive in Gaza.
Do everything possible so that what happened on Saturday, October 07, 2023 is not repeated: Now and always, Israel has on its side the right and duty to prevent any act that may resemble it.
