The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Thursday via its Telegram channel that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) intercepted a projectile from Yemen before it crossed into Israeli territory.

"Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas of Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) before crossing into Israeli territory," the IAF statement said at 4:13 a.m.

An hour later, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree, via his Telegram channel, said the Iran-backed terrorist group had launched a missile allegedly targeting Ben Gurion International Airport, southeast of Tel Aviv.

For months, Yemen's Houthis launched ballistic missiles and drones at Israel in solidarity with Palestinian terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, but they stopped doing so after the ceasefire in the coastal enclave went into effect on January 19.

On Tuesday, following the collapse of the truce due to the failure of negotiations for the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza, which unleashed an Israeli bombing campaign against Hamas targets, the Shiite terrorist organization Ansar Allah (Supporters of God), popularly known as the Houthis, announced that it would escalate its military aggression against the Jewish state.

The resumption of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza comes days after the US launched an airstrike campaign against Houthi positions in several Yemeni cities with the stated goal of halting pro-Iranian terrorist attacks on shipping in the Red and Arabian Seas.

Yemeni terrorists also claimed early Thursday morning to have attacked the USS Harry S. Truman and its warships again.
