On Thursday, December 5 at 17:00 p.m., a pilot plant will be inaugurated in Israel, marking a milestone in the history of renewable energy in the country.

Jaffa Port will host a marine power plant developed by Israeli company Eco Wave Power in collaboration with EDF Renewables Israel and with the support of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Energy and Sustainability Authority. The facility will connect electricity generated by marine waves to the national power grid.

The city of Tel Aviv-Yafo is a member of the international network of C40 cities, a commitment to take action to combat the climate crisis and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Eco Wave Power's technology uses floats attached to existing marine structures such as breakwaters and piers that rise and fall with the movement of the waves, and is powered by a hydraulic motor and a generator located on land.

Inna Braverman, founder and CEO of Eco Wave Power, is leading this historic project, but she has also previously led projects in the Port of Los Angeles with Shell and in Porto, Portugal, where the company's first commercial power station will be built.

Ron Huldai, Mayor of the city, who will participate in the inauguration, said that “this project reflects our commitment to a sustainable future for our cities and for future generations.”
