The corpse of the Jordanian terrorist Maher al-Yazi, who shot dead three Israelis at the Allenby border crossing - which connects Jordan with Israel (more precisely with Judea and Samaria [West Bank]), - was handed over to the Hashemite kingdom on Tuesday to be buried nine days after the attack, official sources reported in amman.
The Jordanian Foreign Ministry announced that it has received the lifeless body of the truck driver who opened fire at the pass and that he will be buried in Jordan after being handed over to his family, according to a statement reproduced by the official Jordanian news agency, Petra.
The ministry's official spokesman, Sufian Qudah, also said that efforts are continuing "to free Jordanian citizens Musleh al Awdat and Hussein al Naimat, detained as a result of the attack" that took place on the Israeli side of the bridge on September 8, according to Petra.
The Jordanian government said after the attack that it was "an individual action" by al-Yazi, who was based in the al-Husayniya area in the southwest of the country and crossed the bridge driving a truck loaded with commercial goods from Jordan into the West Bank.
The Allenby land crossing was closed after the attack, but reopened days later.
