Israel closed several routes to the north and east of Gaza for security reasons, to avoid the gathering of pilgrims who intend to go to these areas, a usual target of rocket fire from Gazan terrorists, to pray for Tisha B'av.

“Agricultural areas between Erez Pass, Yad Mordechai, Shaar HaNegev Crossing, Nativot Crossing and Nahal Oz will be closed to traffic.”, the statement stated, referring to the communities that are just a few kilometers from the northern and northeastern border of Gaza.

They also sealed off areas east of Gaza, between the kibbutzim (agrarian communities) of Re'im and Urim and the Ma'on crossing.

The IDF confirmed that the closure is intended to prevent religious attendance at night in communities bordering Gaza, andbecause they intend to carry out the prayers of the Jewish holiday of Tisha B'av, which begins this afternoon and will last until tomorrow.

In recent days, the launching of rockets by Palestinian terrorists against Israeli territory has motivated numerous attacks by the armed forces in Gaza, and The possible meeting near the border on the occasion of this holiday could motivate a new rocket launch from the enclave.

This Monday at sunset begins in Israel Tisha B'Av, which commemorates the destruction of the first and second temples of Jerusalem, a date full of symbolism that, in addition, Iran could also have chosen for its attack against the nation.
