The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Monday that its troops are deployed on the Syrian side of Mount Hermon, in the Golan Heights, and released images of its soldiers stationed in that snowy area, which it entered yesterday after the fall of the Bashar al Assad regime in Syria.

“These are photos of the IDF forces’ incursion into the Syrian part of Mount Hermon, as part of our deployment in the buffer zone and several defensive points necessary to ensure the security of the inhabitants of the Golan Heights and the State of Israel in light of the events in Syria,” the military said in a statement.

The Israel Defense Forces stressed that it does not interfere in events in Syria, but will continue to act to preserve the demilitarized zone between the two countries, where Syrian rebel forces, Islamists and pro-Turkish forces approached yesterday, and with which it is fighting in several towns in southern Syria.

Israel yesterday deployed its troops to the demilitarized area of ​​the border and ordered local people in five municipalities, including the provincial capital Quneitra, to stay home for safety while it confronted the insurgents.

Although it has not been confirmed, Syrian media and activist groups have reported since yesterday that the Israeli air force is bombing military targets of the Assad regime in Damascus, including military airports and weapons depots. EFE and Aurora
