Israel's Arrow 3 long-range missile system, which was tested in Iran's two attacks on Israel this year, will begin deployment in Germany in the coming days, the Israeli Defense Ministry confirmed.

"The Israeli Ministry of Defense and the German Federal Ministry of Defense have begun coordinating joint preparations for the initial deployment of the Israeli Arrow 3 system on German soil in 2025," the Israeli ministry said in a statement.

For two days, delegations from both countries held discussions at the headquarters of the Israeli Aerospace Industry (IAI), in which members of the Israeli military technology company Elbit Systems and the German MBDA Deutschland GmbH participated.

The Arrow 3 system was developed with US funding and is a project by Boeing and the government-owned IAI, in cooperation with the two countries' missile defence agencies.

In mid-August, when Washington gave the green light for its export, Israel announced a €3.500 billion sales deal with Germany, indicating that the German Arrow 3 could be fully operational by 2030.

The Arrow 3, the top tier of Israel's multi-layer air defense system, was designed to intercept ballistic missiles armed with nuclear and conventional warheads outside the Earth's atmosphere at a range of 2.300 kilometers.

Following Iran's attack on October 1 with 180 ballistic missiles, Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that this system had "proven its effectiveness."
