Iran on Sunday unveiled a new ballistic missile called Etemad and a new generation of Bavar 373 air defense system during President Masud Pezeshkian's visit to the exhibition of the Aerospace Organization of the Ministry of Defense.
Pezeshkian oversaw the presentation of the new ballistic missile with a range of 1.700 kilometers, which is 16 meters long and 1,25 meters in diameter and “can carry a guided warhead to reach the target,” Tasnim reported.
In addition, images were shown for the first time of the new generation of the Bavar 373 air defense system, equipped with an independently operating tracking radar, unlike its initial version which relied on a central radar to intercept and destroy targets.
“Iran’s advancement in defense capabilities and space technologies serves to deter aggression and ensure that no country dares to invade Iranian soil or even think about it,” the Iranian president said.
In recent days, the Iranian Armed Forces have been presenting their achievements in weapons manufacturing, especially missiles and drones.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Naval Force on Saturday unveiled a new underground base for cruise missiles, "designed to attack enemy destroyers" in strategic waters south of the country.
During the presentation of the site, the 'Qadr 380' cruise missile was tested, with a range of more than 1.000 kilometers, "capable of carrying out operations with a single person in less than 5 minutes."
In January, the Revolutionary Guard unveiled two other underground bases, one of them belonging to the Navy, where speedboats, ships and missiles are stored, and another belonging to the Aerospace Force with missiles of different types.
On Monday, the ultra-heavy drone 'Gaza' was also presented, with a wingspan of 22 metres and the capacity to carry 13 bombs and an operational radius of 4.000 kilometres.
The presentation of achievements in the field of defense is common in Iran in the run-up to the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of 1979, which is celebrated on February 10. EFE
