According to Iran's National Institute of Population Research, population growth is slowing rapidly. With the current population at 86 million, the rate of aging is five times higher than the rate of growth.

This aging of the population is the result of a combination of increased life expectancy and a drastic drop in birth rates, common trends in many developing nations.

The latest data is causing concern, as this phenomenon has a strong impact on the country's economy and social situation.

Faced with this situation, the Iranian government has implemented public campaigns to encourage procreation. In cities such as Tehran, posters and billboards can be seen with messages promoting large families.

However, it is believed that economic difficulties have led many couples to ignore government policies aimed at encouraging births, thus worsening the demographic situation.

The UN estimates that by 2050, a third of Iran's population will be over 60. Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni warned in December that if this trend is not reversed, Iran could face a serious demographic crisis, with its population possibly shrinking by more than half within the next 75 years.
